Kiefer Sutherland stopped by Akron and indulged in the local food scene, making surprise visits to two downtown restaurants.
On Thursday, Sutherland visited Eddie’s Famous Cheesesteaks & Grille at 147 S. Main St., catching employees Eric Sells and GiGi Henriksen off guard. Initially unrecognized due to his glasses, Sutherland’s identity became clear after Sells asked for a photo. “You can tell your boss you met Kiefer Sutherland because I am him,” he confirmed.
During his visit, Sutherland admired photos on the restaurant walls and enjoyed a half chicken cheesesteak by the Christmas tree. Owner Eddie Sutter, who missed the encounter on his birthday, joked on Facebook, “Hollywood meets Eddie’s on Main Street! Kiefer is now officially part of Eddie’s Nation.”

The next morning, Sutherland showed up at Diamond Deli, just as it opened. Owners Brett and Chad Magilavy, fans of Sutherland’s films The Lost Boys and Stand By Me, had joked about missing him the day before. To their surprise, the actor strolled in, announcing, “It’s time for breakfast.”
Sutherland ordered a pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup, enjoying a quiet meal in the empty deli. Brett showed him a phone case featuring The Lost Boys cover, prompting Sutherland to share his enthusiasm and offer a fist bump. After his meal, the actor happily posed for photos with the team.
Both restaurants shared their excitement on social media, praising Sutherland’s kindness and down-to-earth demeanor. Sutherland was in Ohio as a guest at GalaxyCon Columbus, joining other celebrities like Hayden Christensen, George Takei, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.
