Kebbi: Police rescue two kidnap victims after gunfight with bandits


Two kidnapped victims have regained freedom in Kebbi State after police operatives, alongside vigilantes and hunters, confronted bandits in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, disclosed that the rescue operation took place on Friday near Dankade village during a fierce exchange of gunfire. The joint security team, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ribah, reportedly overpowered the bandits after hours of fighting.

The victims were identified as 26-year-old Tukur Bello from Kembawa village in Augie LGA of Kebbi, and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar from Budun village in Gummi LGA of Zamfara. They were said to have been seized on August 9 while herding cattle in Gairi forest, Zamfara State.

Police confirmed that both men were rescued without injuries. They were later taken to hospital for medical checks and have since been reunited with their families.
