Two men arraigned in Lagos for alleged motorcycle theft

Two men, identified as Saheed Olayemi, and Ibrahim Magaji, were on Monday arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N1.35 million.
The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, malicious damage, and receiving stolen property. They, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the incident occurred on July 22 at the Ire Akindina area of Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
Famuyiwa alleged that the defendants, along with others still at large, dishonestly stole a black Zongshen motorcycle with registration number SMK 112 QN and deliberately damaged its number plate.
The prosecutor also told the court that on the same day, Magaji allegedly received the stolen motorcycle, valued at N1.35 million, belonging to one Mr Habeeb Ismaila.
The offences, Famuyiwa said, contravened Sections 411, 287, 350, and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate A.O. Ogbe granted each defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until August 21 for mention.
