Adamawa deputy governor heads committee to review Yola flood

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has set up a committee to review the recent flood in Yola, which devastated parts of the state capital earlier in the week.

The 21‑member committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has been tasked with identifying measures to bring succour to affected communities and developing strategies for post‑flood recovery.

The Relief and Post‑Recovery Committee includes the Secretary to the State Government, Awwal Tukur, as secretary; the lawmaker representing Yola South LGA in the state House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa, as a member; and the state Commissioner of Relief, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation, Bello Hammamdira, also as a member.

Other members include the Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Wali; a representative of NEMA; and the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, among others.

According to a statement released Friday evening by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor urged the committee to be honest and fair to all concerned in carrying out its assignment.
