Wanted serial robber arrested in Ogun

The Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), on Saturday apprehended a wanted suspect, identified as Usman Abdullahi, in the Ijebu-Ode area of the state.

The suspect, popularly known as AK, a native of Lumbasa local government area of Katsina State, had been on the list of all security agencies, including the Nigeria police, in and around the local government.

He was wanted for stealing, aiding kidnapping, membership of the Eiye cult group and other criminal activities.

Amotekun operatives acting on an intelligence received about the suspect’s whereabouts in Ijebu-Ode, near the So-Safe Corps office, swiftly swung into a collaborative action leading to the arrest.

Items recovered from him include one locally made pistol, a knife, two ice bunkers, lighters, and a waist charm.

The Amotekun Corps Deputy Commander, Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), confirmed the arrest to DAILY POST on Sunday, saying AK was subsequently handed over to the Obalende police division along with the exhibits, for further investigation and likely prosecution.

“In the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to various crimes, including stealing, aiding kidnapping, membership in the Eiye cult confraternity group and other social menaces.

“This successful operation, no doubts, highlights the effectiveness of the partnership between Amotekun and So-Safe Corps, as well as other security agencies in the state, and also demonstrates the Amotekun Corps’ unwavering commitment in working together to combat crime, maintain peace, and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the state,” Bakare added.

He praised the bravery and diligence of the officers and urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity in order to combat crime and preserve the state’s peace and security.
