Amotekun arrests suspected armed robber, recover stolen motorcycle in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested a 25-year-old suspect in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred along Itorin, before Ososa junction in the Odogbolu local government area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Igwe Chijioke, a native from Ebonyi State, was arrested while attempting to flee from the scene.
DAILY POST learnt that the four-man armed robbery gang attacked a motorcyclist and his passenger, hacking the motorcyclist, identified Tosin Olawoyin, with a machete and axe on his head over the weekend.
Confirming the arrest on Sunday, the Corps Deputy Commander, Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), said the officers from Base 5 in Odogbolu local government acted swiftly, in response to a distress call received from a tipper driver on the brutal robbery which left the motorcyclist in the pool of his blood.
He said, “Finding a grim sight of the motorcyclist, with the serious injuries inflicted on him after being attacked at the scene, Amotekun operatives swiftly went after the armed robbers and apprehended the suspect while he was attempting to flee with the stolen motorcycle.
“In his confession during interrogation, the suspect admitted to both the theft of the motorcycle and the assault on the motorcyclist and passenger, as perpetrated by him and other three fleeing suspects.”
Bakare stated that the victim was promptly rushed to Oore-Ofe El- Shadai Hospital, ijebu-Ode, where he was revived and still undergoing treatment.
He noted that the recovered motorcycle and the suspect have been handed over to the police for further investigation and subsequent prosecution, urging members of the public with information about the incident or whereabouts of the fleeing suspects to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
