Barcelona’s captaincy: Four contenders emerge as Ter Stegen faces possible exit

Barcelona are seriously considering taking the captaincy away from goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
The relationship between Barcelona and Ter Stegen appears to be on the verge of a total breakdown.
Ter Stegen’s statement on Thursday, in which he disclosed that he would undergo surgery and be out of action for three months, has not pleased the Catalan club.
As a result, there is a growing consensus within the Blaugrana that the German is no longer the right candidate to lead the team in the new season.
Last season, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick appointed five captains, with Ter Stegen as first captain, followed by Ronald Araújo, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha and Pedri.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, there are four senior players who could step into Ter Stegen’s role.
The four players are Robert Lewandowski, Iñigo Martínez, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.
