Zambia coach has talked tough ahead of Super Falcons clash
As the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 heats up in Morocco, Zambia’s head coach, Nora Häuptle, has issued a strong warning ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The encounter promises fireworks, with the Copper Queens determined to build on their growing reputation as genuine contenders in women’s football.
What Hauptle said
Since taking charge in January 2025, the Swiss tactician has instilled a steely discipline within her side.
Häuptle’s Zambia impressed early in the tournament and enter this knockout stage brimming with confidence.
She said, “We are in a comfortable position with five rest days now. It’s a chance to recover, refresh and observe closely. Whoever we face, we will be ready. If you want to reach the final and win this tournament, you need to beat everyone. So we will take whoever comes.”
Her team includes Africa’s most commanding forwards, Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, both known for their goal-scoring prowess.
The high-stakes encounter, which will determine a semi-final spot, is slated for Friday at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
