Friends mourn Matilda Midorse – GhPage

Friends and loved ones of Matilda, known on TikTok as Midorse, have taken to social media to mourn her tragic death following the stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of six young Ghanaians and left several others injured during a recruitment screening exercise for the Ghana Armed Forces.
Thousands of hopeful applicants had gathered at the venue when chaos erupted, leading to a deadly stampede.
Matilda, described by her friends as cheerful, ambitious, and full of life, was among those who lost their lives.
On social media, tributes have poured in, with many expressing sorrow and outrage over the circumstances that led to her untimely death.
One of her close friends, TikToker AMG Bengee, shared an emotional video featuring photos of Matilda while lamenting the poor organization of the event.
“How could the Ghana Armed Forces sell forms for months only to conduct the screening in a single day?” he questioned, calling for accountability.
The tragedy has sparked nationwide anger and renewed calls for better crowd management and safety protocols during national recruitment exercises.
Meanwhile, the injured are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital and authorities say investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the stampede.
