SWAG Awards: Joselle Mensah earns nomination for Swimmer of the Year

Ghanaian swimmer Joselle Mensah has been nominated for the Swimmer of the Year Award at the upcoming 50th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards, scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The 22-year-old’s nomination comes on the back of her performances in 2025, which saw her shine on both the continental and international stage.
In August, she set a new national record of 26.48 seconds in the 50m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships, breaking her own previous record of 26.52 seconds set at the 2023 African Games – a time that earned her qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She also set another national record in the women’s 100m freestyle with a time of 58.98 seconds in the competition.
At the 2025 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Championships in October, Joselle finished as the second-best female swimmer overall with five medals including three gold as the host nation amassed 69 medals in total.
She is the only swimmer nominated at this year’s 50th SWAG Awards, which will celebrate outstanding Ghanaian sports personalities for their achievements over the year.
