Court sends two men to prison for phone theft in Kano


A Kano State High Court has sentenced two men to three years in prison each with an option to pay N200,000 fine after they were found guilty of cracking the password of a stolen phone and illegally withdrawing money through the bank applications on the phone.

Justice Faruk Lawan presided over the trial involving five suspects identified as Abdulkadir Aminu, Abdulkadir Abdullahi, Saifullahi Salisu, Jibril Yunusa and Nasir Yunusa, who were charged with conspiracy, armed robbery and assaulting a woman named Ramlat Usman and stealing her phone.

After examining the evidence, the judge found the fourth and fifth defendants guilty of aiding robbery. He sentenced each to three years in jail or a N200,000 fine each.

The court adjourned the trial of the first, second and third defendants to December 16,2025 for further hearing.
