2026 WCQ playoff: ‘Nothing has changed’ – Troost-Ekong speaks ahead of Gabon clash

Captain of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, has revealed what he told his teammates about playing in the next World Cup.

He said he is ready to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting with Thursday’s playoff game against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.

DAILY POST can report that Nigerian players are currently boycotting training sessions over outstanding allowances and bonuses.

Despite this, Troost-Ekong said the team is focused and determined to qualify for the tournament.

According to him, the players often discuss their World Cup ambitions, and he frequently shares his own experience with them.

“I did tell them what my experience was. And I am very much hungry for another time at the world stage,” he said while responding to a post by Victor Ademola.

“So, yeah, we understand the gravity of these games, and I think even for the young players.”

He noted that everyone in the Super Eagles squad wants to make a name for themselves.

“Nothing has changed from the games that we played before March. We still have to win these games.”

Nigeria will face either Cameroon or DR Congo if they overcome Gabon on Thursday.
