Manhyia Palace Dissolves Daddy Lumba’s Funeral Committee

The Manhyia Palace has dissolved the funeral committee for the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following a mediation meeting between his feuding family members on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The decision comes in the wake of an ongoing family feud that has overshadowed preparations for the musician’s final funeral rites.
The dispute, which started shortly after Lumba’s passing on July 26, 2025, has centered around issues of funeral arrangements, family representation, and suspicions surrounding the cause of death.
Earlier, the late musician’s elder sister, Ernestina Akosua Bimpomaa, and first wife, Akosua Serwaa, filed an interlocutory injunction against second wife, Odo Broni, the family head (Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu), and Transitions Funeral Home to halt the planned December 6 funeral.
Akosua Serwaa alleged that she was sidelined from the funeral committee’s meetings and only became aware of the scheduled date through social media posts.
She and Ernestina further demanded that a new autopsy and a thorough investigation be conducted to determine the true cause of the singer’s death before any burial takes place.
On November 10, Ernestina and Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu appeared before the Manhyia Palace for the third time in recent weeks to seek a resolution to the impasse.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, was attended by several prominent traditional figures, including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s linguist, Baffour Kantankrakye, and other sub-chiefs within the Ashanti Kingdom.
According to confirmed reports, the Asantehene’s traditional council ruled in favour of Ernestina and ordered the dissolution of the funeral committee.
The ruling also granted Ernestina and other family members permission to conduct a second autopsy on the late highlife legend.
Sources at the Palace say the decision was made to restore calm and unity among the late singer’s relatives and to ensure that all future decisions align with Asante customary practices.
With this ruling, all previous funeral plans have been suspended indefinitely, pending the results of the second autopsy and further directives from Manhyia.
The developments mark yet another chapter in the unfolding family tensions surrounding the death and funeral of one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians, whose legacy continues to stir emotions months after his passing.
