The Imo State chapter of the Action People’s Party, APP, has commended the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what it described as the successful execution of the Anambra State off-season governorship election.
In a press statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the Interim State Executive Committee of the party, Cajethan Duke, APP praised the prompt deployment of both sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials, as well as the timely upload of election results to the IREV platform.
The party maintained that these improvements represent a significant step in INEC’s bid to conduct elections that are free and fair in future exercises.
APP further acknowledged the initiative as a sign of the commission’s readiness to establish a regime of transparency and trust.
The party also extended its commendation to the security agencies for what it described as the exhibition of professionalism throughout the electoral process.
“It was noted that the patriotic and exemplary behavior exhibited by the security operatives before, during, and after the election played a crucial role in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral procedure,” the statement said.
The party also expressed its appreciation to the citizens of Anambra State for their significant turnout and active participation in the leadership selection of their state, the release added.
APP, however, observed that despite the relatively low voter turnout among the 2.7 million registered voters, the enthusiasm of those who voted clearly demonstrated the electorate’s dedication to fostering sustainable democratic values and culture within the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The party also used the statement to congratulate the winner of the election, Chukwuma Soludo.
