I’d rather sell plantain than go secular – Scott Evans

Ghanaian urban gospel artiste Scott Evans has declared that he would “rather sell plantain by the roadside” than abandon his Christian faith to pursue secular music.

In an interview with Nii Noi on Hitz Praise Zone, aired every Sunday from 5:00 am to 8:00 am on Hitz 103.9 FM, the “100 Percent” hitmaker spoke about his mission in gospel music and the conviction behind his work.

“There’s no pressure on me at all. I’m just serving a King and relaying His message to the people,” he said.

“My focus is to reach those who truly need the word of God. Even if one soul is touched, there’s a party in heaven, and that’s enough for me,” he said.

Asked whether he would ever consider going secular, the award-winning gospel act replied with firm resolve: “If I ever get the chance to be a secular artiste, I’ll rather sell plantain by the roadside instead. There’s nothing attractive in it for me.”

His remarks have stirred conversation among fans and industry watchers, many commending his boldness and dedication in an era where some musicians prioritise fame and commercial success over faith.

Scott Evans is currently preparing for his annual event, Grace Is Luxury Concert III, scheduled for Saturday, 15th November 2025, at the Unique Floral Prestige Court in Tema Community 9.

The concert will feature top gospel acts including Kobby Salm, Akesse Brempong, Queendalyn Yurglee, Perez Musik and Kofi Karikari. The night promises to be filled with worship, Afro-gospel performances and spiritual renewal.
