Goldbod Jewellery to boost local gold value chain – Deputy Finance Minister



The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to value addition in the gold sector through the rebranding and restructuring of Ghana Goldbod Jewellery Limited.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new board in Accra, Mr. Ampem described Goldbod as a vital vehicle for promoting local beneficiation of gold and curbing illegal smuggling.

He commended the leadership of the new board, chaired by Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, and urged them to promote Made-in-Ghana gold products and drive consumer interest locally and internationally.

Goldbod Jewellery Limited, which replaces PMMC Jewellery, has been retooled with a GH¢30 million capital injection to enhance its refining capacity and reposition Ghana as a regional hub for gold processing and jewellery manufacturing.

According to Mr. Gyamfi, the board will prioritise the training of artisans, the introduction of modern refining technologies, and the creation of sustainable jobs within the gold value chain.
