Mechanic Arrested Over Killing of Two Timber Guards in Bono Region

A 45-year-old motor mechanic, Bashiru Kinda, has been arrested by the police over the murder of two security guards of ADRA Timber Company at Mpamso Forest, near Nsuhia in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region.

The incident occurred at dawn last Saturday when Bashiru and about 200 others, suspected to be illegal chainsaw operators, attacked the company’s concession site armed with guns and machetes.

During the violent assault, the gang shot and killed two security guards — Ibrahim Musa (34) and Sam Aliyu (35) — both employees of ADRA Timber Company. The attackers later set ablaze a Toyota pick-up truck with registration number GT 3079-17.

Police intelligence subsequently led to Bashiru’s arrest from his hideout.

A search conducted in his room uncovered a Bruni Model 969M K pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition, four mobile phones, a machete, a talisman, and other amulets.

According to the police, efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplices, while Bashiru will soon be arraigned before court.
