Cholera outbreak kills 13 in Adamawa state


A cholera outbreak has led to the death of 13 people in Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Areas of Adamawa state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Chief Felix Tangwami confirmed this during a press briefing on Wednesday.

Tangwami said the outbreak was caused by contaminated drinking water in the two affected areas. He explained that 236 people had been infected so far, while 21 others were still receiving treatment.

“A team of 50 health workers from the State primary health care development agency and our case management team are currently on the ground handling the situation.” Tangwami emphasized.

He added that the state government was taking urgent steps to stop the spread, including public health awareness campaigns and water purification efforts.

Tangwami advised residents to maintain good hygiene and to quickly report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility for immediate treatment.
