JoySports’ Muftawu Nabila Abdulai earns GJA Awards nomination again

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards Committee has nominated JoySports’ Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, for honours in the 29th GJA Awards, set to be held in Kumasi on Saturday, 8 November 2025.
This nomination places Mr Abdulai, who currently holds the title of GJA Sports Journalist of the Year—in a strong position to retain the prestigious honour.
He clinched the top award at the 28th GJA Awards on 28 September 2024, earning national recognition for his outstanding storytelling and impactful sports journalism.
The GJA announced its list of nominees on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, confirming Abdulai’s inclusion among the contenders to be recognised this weekend.
The 29th edition of the awards ceremony will take place at Manhyia and it will celebrate distinguished Ghanaian journalists whose work has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, creativity, and a strong commitment to public interest journalism.
If Muftawu Nabila secures the prize again, he will reinforce his position as one of the country’s leading voices in sports media and a benchmark for emerging journalists in Ghana and beyond.
Muftawu Nabila has covered World Cup, World Athletics Championships, African Cup of Nations, Confederation of African Athletics Championships, and many other prestigious events.
