China reacts to Trump’s nuclear testing claim

The government of China has said the nation adheres to its nuclear testing moratorium.
This is in response to President Donald Trump’s assertion that China secretly tests its warheads.
Trump had stated that he ordered the Pentagon to restart the testing of American nukes because China, Russia, and North Korea have been doing the same.
At a press conference on Monday, the Foreign Ministry stressed that China, a UN Security Council permanent member, “is a responsible nuclear-weapon state.”
“China follows a policy of “no first use” of nuclear weapons and a nuclear strategy that focuses on self-defense,” said spokesperson Mao Ning.
Beijing promised to work with all parties to uphold the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and safeguard the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime.
The Chinese government advised the United States to abide by its obligations under the Treaty and its commitment to the freeze on nuclear testing,
Ming further urged America to maintain the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime, as well as global strategic balance and stability.
On the renewed demand by China, Brazil, and other countries for a ceasefire in Ukraine, Beijing reiterated the stance of the “Friends for Peace” on continued diplomatic talks.
China, however, expressed concern about the situation in Sudan, where atrocities perpetrated against civilians have been condemned by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the Red Cross.
The Asian leader called for an end to the conflict to ease the worsening humanitarian crisis, restore peace and stability, and achieve reconstruction and development.
