‘Stop prophesying doom, Ghana will stand’ – Bishop Tackie-Yarboi tells prophets

The Presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Churches International (VBCI), Rt. Rev. N.A. Tackie-Yarboi has declared that Ghana will not burn, contrary to predictions of doom by some prophets.
He said God will raise strong leaders to help the nation overcome its challenges.
Preaching on the theme “Thy Will Be Done on Earth” during VBCI’s 40th anniversary thanksgiving service at the Black Star Square on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi cautioned prophets who have made it their habit to declare doom over the country.

He urged them to use their ministries to uplift and edify rather than discourage.
Quoting Matthew 6:10, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” he noted that while there are no problems in heaven, Jesus came so that the earth would reflect heaven — a place without problems.
He stressed that the Church exists to solve problems on earth, describing it as “the salt of the earth.”
“Anytime the earth faces problems, the church must rise and solve them,” Bishop Tackie-Yarboi said.

“I am not opposed to the prophetic; I like it. But it should serve as a problem-solving tool. The Bible tells us that prophecies come to exalt, edify, and give direction. What we often hear today are prophecies of death and destruction — ‘you will die,’ and ‘Ghana is burning,’” he said.
“Ghana will not burn; God will help us. Even Nineveh was spared when they repented, and God promised to save the land. Sodom and Gomorrah would have been spared if Abraham’s intercession had been enough.
“Let us stop tearing ourselves down and live out Jesus’ prayer: ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ There are no problems in heaven — may we bring heaven down to earth,” he concluded.

Unique Focus

Special Guest of Honour, Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, expressed deep respect for VBCI and its leadership. He said he was blessed to join the church in celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Mr Debrah praised the church’s unique focus on spiritual and entrepreneurial growth, noting that it empowers members to become business owners and active contributors to national development.

“If you belong to a church with a leader who thinks this way, you are blessed. When the President spoke about ‘resetting,’ he meant it’s time to rethink how we do things,” he said.
He assured the church of the government’s readiness to partner with it to achieve its objectives.
“I encourage you to establish a business development desk, headed by one of your pastors, to identify and guide members with entrepreneurial potential. Anytime support is needed, the Jubilee House will be available to assist,” he added.
Empowerment

The Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, representing President John Mahama, commended Bishop Tackie-Yarboi and his College of Bishops for 40 years of dedicated service to VBCI and the nation.

“Under Bishop Tackie-Yarboi’s anointed leadership, Victory Bible Church International has raised the foundations of many generations. You have not only preached the gospel but also built lives, strengthened families, mentored leaders, and empowered communities across Ghana and beyond,” he said.

The Church
Victory Bible Church International (VBCI) is a dynamic, Bible-based, Christ-centered church headquartered in Accra. Founded in June 1985, VBCI is dedicated to spreading the message of hope, love, and redemption through Jesus Christ.
Its mandate, “Raising the Foundations of Many Generations,” is drawn from Isaiah 58:12:

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, the repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in.”
Milestone

VBCI marked its 40th anniversary on June 2, 2025. Its first service was held on June 2, 1985, at Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra. Over the past four decades, the church has expanded to more than ten countries across four continents — Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
In Ghana, the church has over 175 branches, with an administrative staff of more than 70 and several hundred lay ministers serving voluntarily.
The Leader
Bishop Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi, founder and Presiding Bishop of VBCI, is a respected clergyman, author, and teacher with a ministry spanning over four decades.

He founded the church in Accra in 1985, originally named Victory Christian Center, before it became Victory Bible Church International.
Today, VBCI reaches millions globally and oversees hundreds of churches in and outside Ghana.
The Commission
VBCI’s mission is to equip members to be rooted in God’s Word, mature in faith, and empowered to disciple others. Its goal is to transform individuals, families, and communities through practical Christian living.
The church operates 38 global provinces, each led by a bishop, and over 250 local branches, known as Sanctuaries.
Its overarching purpose is to convert people to Christ, mature them to express God in human form, equip them for ministry, and help them fulfil their God-given mission in the world.
