Christian genocide: David Frum slams Trump’s threat of military action against Nigeria

Former speechwriter to President George W. Bush, David Frum, has criticized US President Donald Trump’s threat of military action against Nigeria following allegations of Christian genocide in the West African country.

Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern, claiming ongoing violence against Christians and the Federal Government’s inability to protect the religious people.

In response, the Nigerian government strongly refuted claims of any religious persecution in the country.

On Saturday, Trump further escalated the situation by threatening potential military action against Nigeria if quick measures are not taken.

However, Frum was not pleased with Trump’s threat, describing the US leader as a ‘blowhard president.’

In a tweet on X on Sunday, Frum wrote: “Yesterday afternoon, Trump threatened to launch a military attack on the most populous country in sub-Saharan Africa.

“The fact that few express much upset at this bluster is a marker of how little respect this blowhard president commands at home or abroad.

“If any previous president issued a personal statement, “I’m considering massive military strikes in sub-Saharan Africa,” there would be tumult – even panic. But with Trump, everybody shrugs, including his own supporters. “That’s Trump. He says things. He’s full of shit. Next?”
