Brazil Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Mariana Madeira, has said the upcoming Afro-Brazil Ghana Festival scheduled for December 13 in Accra would be a unique platform to explore new possibilities in creative trade and tourism.
She stated that it would promote fashion, and enhance cultural investment, all of which were essential to Ghana and Brazil’s shared development agenda.
“Moving forward, we are equally excited about our Afro-Brazil Ghana Festival scheduled for December. This upcoming event will celebrate the vibrant exchange between our peoples, bringing together artists, entrepreneurs, and investors from both countries,” said Mrs Madeira at the 8th Ghana Business Summit and Awards Gala night held in Accra on October 24.
“As we move forward, Brazil remains committed to working closely with Ghana to expand cooperation in key areas of the creative economy, agribusiness, tourism, and technology,” Mrs Madeira outlined.
Together, the Ambassador emphasised, “we can build a model of South–South collaboration that is innovative, people-centred, and forward-looking — one that creates opportunities and honours the cultural heritage that unites us.”
Touching on the theme, ‘Creative Trade and Investment Priorities for Ghana–Brazil Cooperation,’ Mrs Madeira told the attendees that creative energy was both a bridge and a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable growth for the two countries.
“Our two nations are bound by a common past and strong cultural identity, reflected in our music, gastronomy, fashion, and artistic expression,” Mrs Madeira added.
Additionally, she noted that the Embassy of Brazil in Accra had been engaged in strengthening creative and cultural partnerships with Ghana, adding that its recent participation in the Afro-Gastro Festival 2025 showcased the African heritage in Brazilian cuisine.
She said creativity had become one of the most powerful forces shaping economies and societies.
Mrs Madeira also highlighted that the creative industries account for over six per cent of global employment and generate more than three per cent of global GDP, according to a UN report.
Beyond these figures, the Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana stated that creativity connects people, drives innovation, and fosters mutual understanding among nations.
