1,200 Old Tafo pupils receive ‘Back to School Kits’

For hundreds of schoolchildren in Old Tafo Municipal in the Ashanti region, their academic work has become a little brighter, thanks to a special initiative that placed exercise books and other learning materials directly into their eager hands.
The project, dubbed the “Back to School Kits” initiative, is a collaborative effort between Muslim Aid International and Mercy To The World, a Ghana-based non-governmental organization devoted to supporting underprivileged communities.

Over 1,200 pupils from several basic schools — including Uthmania Basic School, Imaaniya Basic School, Ibadia Basic School, Annasr Basic School, and others — benefited from the donation, which provided them with much-needed stationery to aid their studies.
For many parents, the cost of basic school supplies can be a heavy burden, especially in times of economic hardship. The initiative, therefore, came as a timely relief.

“Education is a fundamental right, and no child should stay out of school because they lack basic materials,” said Kamaldeen Yakubu Zahrah, President of Mercy To The World.
“Our goal is to ease the pressure on parents and make sure every child has the tools they need to learn, grow, and dream.”

As Zahrah and his team distributed the kits, smiles lit up the faces of children who, for once, did not have to worry about sharing books or writing on scraps of paper.
Teachers and school administrators praised the effort, describing it as a boost to classroom morale and learning outcomes.

The Back to School Kits Project forms part of Muslim Aid International’s broader commitment to promoting access to quality education and improving the welfare of vulnerable children across Ghana.
Beyond the immediate supplies, the project carries a deeper message — one of hope, equality, and opportunity. It underscores the belief that investing in children’s education is one of the most powerful ways to break the cycle of poverty and build stronger communities.

For the children of Old Tafo, the new exercise books represent something much bigger than can positively change their dreams.
