Eswatini reaffirms support for Morocco’s sovereignty and autonomy plan

The Kingdom of Eswatini has reaffirmed its firm support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and endorsed the autonomy plan as the “only credible, serious, and realistic solution” to the regional dispute.
Eswatini’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Dlamini Shakantu, made the declaration on Wednesday in Rabat during the first session of the Morocco–Eswatini Joint Cooperation Commission.
She met with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, to discuss the strong ties between the two countries and ways to deepen multisectoral cooperation.
Minister Shakantu reiterated her country’s consistent stance, expressing Eswatini’s full support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.
Eswatini, which opened a Consulate General in Laayoune in October 2020, again emphasised that the Moroccan Autonomy Plan remains the only credible and realistic basis for resolving the regional dispute.
