Here’s why soldier assaulted pharmacy attendant and female customer

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has acted swiftly in response to widespread public outrage over a viral video showing a military officer physically assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer during a heated confrontation over a GHS 65 refund.
In a new video circulating online, three uniformed military police officers were seen at the residence of the suspect, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Williams Mensah, to effect his arrest.
The officers escorted Mensah out of his apartment inside the military barracks.
However, upon reaching their vehicle, he appeared to resist entering, resulting in a brief scuffle before a senior officer intervened and ordered him to comply.
A young boy, believed to be his son, was also seen at the scene witnessing the arrest.

Chronology of the Incident
According to verified details gathered from sources close to the case, the altercation began after WO1 Mensah’s son was sent to a pharmacy to buy a dewormer.
The boy was presented with three options and chose one priced at GHS 65.
Upon his return, WO1 Mensah rejected the medicine and sent his son back to request a refund.
The pharmacy attendant explained via a phone call that medicines cannot be refunded once purchased.
Dissatisfied, WO1 Mensah accompanied his son back to the pharmacy, demanding the refund in person.
During the confrontation, a female customer—reportedly the daughter of a Two-Star General—was at the pharmacy to make a purchase.
WO1 Mensah, in a fit of anger, slapped and assaulted both the pharmacy attendant and the female customer.
When the woman attempted to film the incident, he attacked her again outside the shop.
The pharmacy attendant later refunded the GHS 65 after the officer returned for a second time.
The entire assault was captured on CCTV and later leaked online, sparking nationwide outrage.
WO1 Mensah has since been arrested by the Military Police and is expected to face internal disciplinary proceedings and potential criminal charges.
