GH man goes viral for lashing beggars at Circle

A viral video which is circulating on social media and has sparked outrage captures the moment a Ghanaian man filmed assaulting street beggars at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange in Accra.
In the disturbing footage, the unidentified man can be seen removing his belt to lash these street beggars who quickly fled the scene to escape the attack.
The incident, which many have described as dehumanising and unlawful, has triggered a wave of condemnation across social media platforms, with many Ghanaians calling for the man’s immediate arrest and prosecution.
Several users on X (formerly Twitter) have expressed their outrage:
@Talha125 wrote: “That’s disturbing and completely out of line. No matter the frustration, taking the law into your own hands and assaulting vulnerable people is unjustifiable. He should face legal consequences for that.”

@SekondiMayor added: “Unfortunately, individuals cannot take the laws into their own hands. He needs to be arrested and prosecuted as per the laws.”
@Distaffi commented: “This is not humanity. Just because we don’t want them on the road doesn’t mean we should treat them badly. What he did was wrong, and thank God a car hadn’t hit one of them.”
@Glorybwoy12 wrote: “He should be arrested immediately. You can’t lash people on the streets because they’re begging — what about those begging online? @GhPoliceService, find and arrest him immediately.”
@NanaYawOP also questioned the motive behind the act, saying: “So he just took his belt and started whipping them for no reason? Make it make sense because I don’t understand some people.”
While concerns have been raised in recent months about the growing number of foreign beggars at major intersections in Accra, critics insist that vigilante actions such as this are unacceptable and violate human rights.
