Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday described his experience with the Nigeria Police Force following his arrest as traumatic.
Ejimakor, Kanu’s brother Prince Emmanuel, and several protesters were arrested by the police during a “Free Nnamdi Kanu” protest in Abuja.
After their arrest, Ejimakor and the others were arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Kuje Area Council. They were arrested alongside former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and arraigned before the same court.
The court, however, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each.
Following the perfection of their bail conditions, Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel, Sowore, and other protesters were released from Kuje Prison.
Addressing journalists after their release, Ejimakor said: “The experience is traumatic for me and my colleagues, it’s traumatic in the manner of the arrest.
“We were being shoved around, some were beaten and teargas cannisters were deployed directly on us.
“Folks, I’m back to town, re-energised. My gratitude to all that stood by me and my comrades.”
