The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values has announced a press conference to address what it describes as government’s delay in assenting to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill passed by Parliament in July 2023.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, will take place at the Catholic Secretariat near Gulf House in Accra at 3:00 p.m. It will be preceded by a governing council meeting at 2:00 p.m., bringing together major religious and traditional groups that make up the coalition.
In a statement signed by Emmanuel Foh Amoaning, Secretary General of the Coalition, the group expressed concern over what it calls “perceived foot-dragging” by the current administration on the matter.
The governing council includes representatives from the Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal Council, the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Councils, para-church organizations, the Coalition of Muslim Organizations of Ghana, the Office of the National Chief Imam, and traditional rulers.
According to the coalition, the meeting and subsequent press conference aim to communicate a unified position on the long-delayed assent of the bill, which seeks to criminalize LGBTQ+ activities and advocacy in Ghana.
Mr. Foh Amoaning emphasized that the coalition expects strong media coverage of the event as it seeks to engage the public and government on what it considers an urgent national and moral issue.
