''APC comot for road, ADC don come' - Dino Melaye's chant against Tinubu's party

Senator Dino Melaye stirred excitement at the unveiling of the opposition coalition in Abuja with a chant, “APC comot for road, ADC don com!” The song, delivered with energy, drew loud cheers from attendees.

The event marked the formal adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for a new opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.

It was held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Former Senate President David Mark was introduced as interim chairman of the coalition, while ex-Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola was named interim secretary. The ADC will serve as the coalition’s base pending the registration of a new party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

Key opposition figures in attendance included Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Dele Momodu, signalling a united front to challenge the APC.

The coalition’s emergence comes amid rising public discontent over inflation and governance. A faction within the ADC, however, has rejected the move, citing lack of internal consultation.

Despite objections, the coalition’s launch signals a renewed push by opposition leaders to present a joint challenge in 2027.
