‘Otto Addo has delivered’ – Chibsah backs Black Stars coach for World Cup

Former Black Stars midfielder, Yussif Chibsah wants head coach Otto Addo to stay on as Black Stars coach having “delivered” the 2026 World Cup qualification.

Otto guided the team to five wins in the final six World Cup qualifiers to secure qualification for the global tournament.

The 50-year-old is the first Ghanaian to lead the senior national team to back-to-back World Cup qualifications after doing so for the 2022 edition.

However, concerns continue to grow about his ability to lead the team on the global stage, having failed to secure a spot for December’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

“Coaches are being assessed by their output. So far, Otto Addo has delivered,” Chibsah, who doubles as Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), told Asema FM.

“The ultimate goal was to qualify us for the World Cup [and] he has delivered. There is no other reason for him to be dismissed.

“From all angles, it will be unfair to Otto Addo [to say he has failed].

Meanwhile, the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is set for December 5 in Washington, where Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents.
