Global fintech market to hit $400bn by 2028 – Deputy BOG Governor


Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (GoG), Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has projected that the global fintech market will reach $400 billion by 2028.
She explained that fintech is an important element for financial inclusion and digital transformation.
The BoG official said this at the oMo Fintech Stakeholder Forum on Wednesday, October 15.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu noted that innovations in mobile money and digital lending continue to reshape how Ghanaians transact and access financial services.
“The global Fintech market is projected to reach $400 billion by 2028. With digital lending alone surpassing $1.3 trillion,” she outlined.
She stressed that the fintech revolution is not only transforming economies but also changing financial culture.
“This transformation is not just numerical but also cultural,” she stated.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu further called for continued collaboration among regulators, innovators, and service providers to sustain the sector’s growth.
She highlighted the transformative role of financial technology in reshaping both local and global economies.
Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu said mobile money transactions in Ghana continue to record strong growth, reflecting the country’s rapid shift toward a digital financial ecosystem.
