Gunmen invade another Plateau community, kill two

Two people were confirmed killed and several others injured after armed gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias invaded the Wereng community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday night.
Residents who confirmed the attack said the heavily armed invaders, numbering over 100, stormed the village at night and opened fire indiscriminately, killing two people while several others were injured as they tried to escape into nearby bushes for safety.
One of the victims, identified as Joshua Monday, reportedly died on the spot, while the other died on the way to the General Hospital, Riyom.
It was also gathered that army troops and other security forces arrived at the scene shortly after the attack to restore calm. However, efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alabo Alfred, for confirmation proved abortive, as his phone was switched off at the time of calling.
