Family of hostage, Elkana Bohbot celebrate his imminent release

Friends and relatives of Elkana Bohbot, one of the Israeli hostages expected to be freed this morning, are celebrating outside his home in Mevasseret Zion, just west of Jerusalem.

As news of his imminent release spread, family members and neighbors gathered on the balcony, dancing and singing to the popular refrain, “Things will be better, things will be better.”

A large banner hanging from the porch reads: “Elkus, how good it is that you are home.”

Bohbot’s wife, Rivka, their three-year-old son, Re’em, and his parents are currently at the Re’im army base, where families are reuniting with their loved ones following the second round of hostage releases under the Israel-Hamas agreement.

In a brief recorded message from the base, Rivka expressed her anticipation and relief, saying, “The moment has come.”
