2026 WCQ: Eric Chelle singles out one Super Eagles star, reveals dreasing room atmosphere


Super Eagles head coach has hailed Sevilla striker, Akor Adams, following his performance in Nigeria”s 2-1 win over Lesotho in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday.

He also shed light on what happened in dressing room after the victory over the Crocodiles.

DAILY POST reports that Nigeria recorded a hard-fought victory over Lesotho on matchday nine.

Eric Chelle’s team’s position in the Group C of the of the qualifying series has not changed as they still trail South Africa by a single point ahead of the final round of fixtures.

Nigeria’s next game on Tuesday is against group leaders Benin at home and a victory is essential.

Nigeria is relying on Rwanda to take points off South Africa if they are to progress.

Akor Adams came on from the bench to give Nigeria a 2-0 lead with ten minutes left on the clock.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chelle expressed satisfaction with Akor’s performance.

He said he was pleased for the striker, adding that the players showed strong camaraderie in the dressing room after the win.

He described the the atmosphere as calm and filled with mutual respect.

The Nigerian coach further remarked that his players were driven by their competitive spirit and ambition.

He reiterated that the victory was “the most important outcome of the night”, adding that the “team was grateful for the opportunity to continue fighting for qualification on home soil”.
