2026 WCQ: Lesotho clash must win for Super Eagles – Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong says the team can’t afford to drop points against the Crocodiles of Lesotho, DAILY POST reports.
Eric Chelle’s side will be the guests of Lesotho in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying tie at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane on Friday.
Nigeria have recorded just two wins in eight outings in the qualifiers, and must beat Leslie Notsi’s side to keep in touch with joint group leaders Benin Republic, and South Africa.
The Super Eagles have garnered 11 points, while Benin and South Africa have 14 points each.
Troost-Ekong also stated that it is important for them to respect their opponent.
“We are approaching this game same way we approached the game against South Africa. It is important for us to get the three points,” the centre-back declared during his interaction with the media.
”We have to also show Lesotho respect. They have done well in the group. It’s going to be an important game for both of us.
“We are focused on our preparation now, we have two or three days to prepare for the game.”
