‘We are working on it’ – Kofi Adams on Black Queens being owed bonuses after WAFCON

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, says his institution is working on settling the bonuses owed the Black Queens following their participation in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The senior women’s national team are owed bonuses after their bronze-medal winning performance in Morocco during the 2024 WAFCON.
Ghana finished third after beating South Africa on penalties in the playoff game back in July.
However, concerns are being raised over the team’s unsettled bonuses ahead of the 2026 WAFCON Qualifier against Egypt later this month.
“Their last bonus has not been paid, not all their bonuses,” Kofi Adams said in an interview with Joy News.
“It’s in the process of being worked on. They are not the only ones. Even the U-20 boys have not received their packaged.”
Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side will face Egypt later this month in the final round of qualifiers hoping to be at next year’s tournament which will also serve as a World Cup qualifier.
