Armed bandits attacked Zamfara State on Friday evening, killing some residents and abducting several others.
The attackers also blocked the Mayanchi–Anka highway, where they carried out the assault.
One of the survivors, Malam Muhammad Ahmad, who narrowly escaped, said the bandits were heavily armed.
“They stopped us on the road and took many people away. Some of us managed to run into the bushes and hide among tall crops. That was how we escaped,” Ahmad recounted.
He added that his colleague, Abubakar Lawali Sardauna, was shot dead after refusing to follow the kidnappers into the forest.
Zamfara police or the Army are yet to make comments on the mayhem.
