1. A Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, has ordered the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police to suspend the enforcement of tinted glass permit against vehicle owners. The judge also asked the police and the IGP to maintain the status quo and “respect judicial processes pending further proceedings in the matter.”
2. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has mobilised civilian JTF fighters and troops to Kirawa, a town in Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA) following the withdrawal of Cameroonian soldiers stationed in the town. Boko Haram terrorists had invaded the town after the soldiers’ exit, killing residents and setting houses ablaze.
3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday disclosed that Boko Haram insurgents once nominated former President Muhammadu Buhari to represent them in negotiations with the Federal Government. Jonathan spoke in Abuja at the public presentation of “Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum“, a book authored by former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor.
4. A tanker inferno in the wee-hours of Friday left one person injured and three vehicles burnt along the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway in Ogun State. It was gathered that the tanker carrying 30,000 litres of fuel fell on its side and spilled its content at the Abeokuta-Kobape-Siun-Sagamu/Interchange stretch of the highway.
5. The Benue State Police Command says it has dismantled several bandit camps operating along the Makurdi–Yelewata and Makurdi–Naka roads. Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ifeanyi Emenari, disclosed this in Makurdi when members of the Forum of Investigative Journalists, led by Tamenor Kwaghzer, paid him a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters.
6. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured that his administration is committed to making the Southeast great again. The President who was conferred with the traditional title of Udo Kpu Enyị 1 of Abia, by the leadership of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council for what he is doing in the state, the Southeast and the country, stated this yesterday during a state visit to Abia State.
7. The Federal Government and Meta Platforms Inc., parent company of Facebook and Instagram, have agreed on an out-of-court settlement of a $32.8 million fine against the latter. The fine was imposed on the Meta Platforms for alleged data privacy violations involving Nigerian users.
8. The Federal Capital Territory Administration, has flagged off the construction of Transit Way N2 road, linking Wuse Zone 3 to the Central Area, with assurances for more projects across the territory. Speaking during the ceremony on Friday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said that road infrastructure remains the backbone of every modern city for investments and accelerating growth.
9. The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested two suspected armed robbers and uncovered a Mushin hotel allegedly used as a criminal hideout. Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Friday in Lagos. She said detectives sighted four suspected robbers around 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Three escaped, while a 21-year-old was apprehended.
10. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Adamawa Command, says it has destroyed a seven-hectare cannabis farm and arrested 58 drug suspects in September. Mr Aliyu Abubakar, Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA Adamawa Command, disclosed this on Friday at a news conference in Yola.
