LaLiga: Yamal will make Barça very difficult for you – Sherwood to Rashford

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager, Tim Sherwood has told Marcus Rashford that it would be difficult for him to succeed in Barcelona.

According to him, the England forward looks ‘bang average’ at his new club due to the presence of genius Lamine Yamal.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder said that the Manchester United loanee is ‘one-dimensional’ and hence, fans are underwhelmed by him.

He said that this has made life difficult for the attacker since fans expect him deliver the same performances as 18-year-old Lamine Yamal.

Rashford returned to Manchester United at the end of last season having spent part of that season on loan at Aston Villa. The English attacker then headed to Barcelona on loan for the new season.

Rashford has already netted twice and provided five assists in nine games across competitions for the Spanish giants.

However, Sherwood does not see the Red Devils star performing to the expectations of Barcelona supporters.

He told Sky Sports, “When it[the ball] goes out to the left to Marcus, he is one dimensional, we know what Marcus is and he’s very effective when he does it.

“He knocks it, he runs past people and when he doesn’t the crowd think, ‘why don’t you give us the same as the genius[Yamal] on the other side?

“It’s harsh on him I know, but it’s a very difficult environment for him to play in.

“Marcus Rashford will develop if he wants to and get better playing in this Barcelona side. He has to get better. At the moment, he looks bang average because the kid on the other side is so good.”

However, the England international
has provided the most assists for Barcelona so far this season. His performances for the Catalans have also earned him a call up to the England team for matches against Wales and Latvia later this month.
