This opportunity is only the beginning – Veep to Adwumawura beneficiaries

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has urged beneficiaries of the Adwumawura training programme to approach the opportunity with focus, resilience, and integrity, stressing that their success will depend largely on their commitment.

Speaking at the onboarding and orientation of participants on Thursday, October 2, the Vice President encouraged the trainees to view the initiative not as an end in itself but as a stepping stone to greater achievements.

“I want to remind us, especially our beneficiaries, this opportunity is only the beginning. What will make the difference is your commitment, your focus, your discipline, your honesty and flexibility,” she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged the inevitable challenges in entrepreneurship, noting that no business succeeds without setbacks. She, however, urged the beneficiaries to remain innovative and determined in overcoming such obstacles.

“Believe me, there will be challenges and setbacks. No business, no matter how successful, is free from this. What will set you apart is how you rise above them and continue to innovate regardless,” she added.

The Vice President also commended trainers and development partners of the programme, emphasising their crucial role in shaping the future of the participants.

The Adwumawura initiative is designed to equip young people with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and mentorship to drive sustainable livelihoods and business growth across Ghana.

The Adwumawura Programme, to be implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), aims to support 10,000 young Ghanaians aged 18 to 35 in launching and growing their businesses.

The technical committee’s responsibilities include identifying viable start-ups, addressing regulatory challenges, and ensuring businesses under the programme align with the 24-hour economy policy.
