UNFPA, ORCC train youth leaders on reproductive rights and child protection

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in collaboration with the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), has organised a programme to empower youth leaders from three selected districts—Krachi East, Nkwanta South, and Nkwanta North—on adolescent reproductive rights and child protection issues.

The Oti Regional Director of Social Welfare, Innocent Agbolosu, sensitised the youth leaders on adolescent reproductive health, child rights, and protection.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Agbolosu emphasised the importance of protecting adolescents from sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and promoting family planning.

Facilitators from the Ghana Health Service and other experts also educated participants on adolescent sexual rights, child responsibilities, and protection.

Participants developed action plans to engage their groups and communities to ensure the effective dissemination of the messages. The programme also aimed to monitor progress and ensure that the knowledge gained is applied at the community level.
