Tinubu orders probe into Arise TV anchor’s killing

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed grief over the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, who was killed during an armed robbery incident at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, on Sunday.
In a statement issued Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Maduagwu as “a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner.”
Tinubu directed security agencies to carry out a swift and comprehensive investigation into the killing, stressing that the perpetrators must be tracked down and prosecuted.
“Security and law enforcement agencies should conduct a quick and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay,” the President said.
He extended condolences to the family of the late journalist, colleagues at Arise Television, and the wider media community, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to citizen safety and the fight against violent crime.
Tinubu added that his government will intensify efforts to strengthen law enforcement and ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.
