The Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Jakob Linulf has expressed his country’s readiness to deepen collaboration with Margins ID, the company behind the successful rollout of Ghana’s National Identification system.
According to him, Ghana’s digital identity system was a model for Africa, pledging deeper collaboration with Margins ID Group to extend same to other African countries.
During a visit to Margins’ Intelligent Card Production Systems (ICPS) facility in Accra last Thursday, Mr Linulf, described the Ghana Card as “a major achievement” and praised the company’s role in advancing the nation’s development.
“Margins ID Group is famous in Denmark, and you should be proud of your contribution to Ghana’s progress. You have our support, and I am very impressed with what I see here,” he said.
Mr Linulf, accompanied by Jørgen Østergård Bollesen, Head of Trade, and Linda Kafui Abbah-Foli, Commercial Advisor at the Embassy, stressed that Margins’ expertise placed it in “a different league” from many African ID firms.
The visit comes as countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo and The Gambia take steps to replicate Ghana’s model in building secure identity systems to drive digital transformation and socio-economic growth.
Margins ID Group Chief Executive Officer, Moses Kwesi Baiden Jr., reaffirmed the company’s commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships that will consolidate Ghana’s leadership in digital identity.
He praised Denmark’s long-standing support since 1999, which helped Ghana emerge as a continental trailblazer.
“The Danish Government should be commended for its contribution to this project, and we will continue to collaborate with you in achieving new milestones. Together, we will innovate, expand, and deliver secure identification solutions that meet Africa’s evolving needs,” he said.
Mr Baiden also noted that the partnership extends beyond technology to cultural and diplomatic ties, citing Margins’ support for Danish Constitution Day and other Embassy initiatives.
From an initial $100 investment three decades ago, Margins has grown into a global technology powerhouse and a symbol of successful international cooperation.
Today, the Ghana Card stands as a benchmark for African nations pursuing digital transformation.
