Trasaco demands military investigation into demolition of estates Land

The Trasaco Estates Development Company Limited has called on the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to investigate the recent demolition of its property along the Accra–Tema Motorway by armed men alleged to be soldiers.
The company expressed concern over the aggressive manner in which the men, dressed in military uniforms, pulled down structures without prior notice. It urged the Chief of Defence Staff to take interest in the matter, describing it as a threat to investor confidence.
At a press conference in Accra, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Legal Director, Mr Kwame Owusu Danso, said although the perpetrators claimed the demolition was ordered by the Presidency, but checks confirmed no such directive had been issued.
He explained that the incident suggested attempts by unscrupulous groups to forcibly take over the 270.1-acre parcel of land lawfully acquired by Trasaco from the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) in 2004, formalised in a 2012 lease agreement.
“For over a decade, we have developed this land under the Tema Springs project, enabling peaceful occupation for clients. It is worrying that some continue to use men in military uniforms to destabilise the economy and frustrate investors,” he said.
Mr Danso disclosed that the company had contacted the office of the National Chief Imam, which confirmed no involvement, and had also reached out to the Presidency for clarification.
He further indicated that the Ghana Police Service had identified suspects, invited some for questioning, and was pursuing others who fled.
Mr Danso assured investors of the company’s commitment to protect their interests and urged stakeholders to remain calm as the company cooperates with authorities to ensure justice.
