NDLEA arrests drug kingpins with consignments of cocaine, heroin, meth in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested two suspected drug kingpins in Lagos and recovered consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine during operations based on weeks of intelligence gathering.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, 64-year-old Victor Nwosa was arrested on September 17 at his residence in Okota, Lagos, where 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine were seized.
Similarly, 49-year-old Felix Chika Obiegbu was arrested on September 11 at his home in Aguda, Surulere, where 2.9 kilograms of methamphetamine were recovered.
The NDLEA also foiled attempts to transport drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states.
In Borno, operatives intercepted a Mercedes Benz GLK at Njimtilo village on September 27 and found 39,380 tramadol 225mg and exol-5 pills hidden in the engine compartment.
The driver, 26-year-old Baba Kaka Ibrahim, was arrested. On the same day, in Yobe, operatives arrested a woman, Halima Adamu, on the Damaturu-Maiduguri road with 39 parcels of Colorado weighing 1.4kg concealed in her travel bag. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of another woman, Habiba Muhammad, in Maiduguri.
In Kano State, two suspects, Aliyu Sani, 27, and Yahaya Tata, 26, were arrested with 30,030 tramadol pills. In Bayelsa, three men were apprehended at Swali Jetty with 12kg of skunk and 50 live cartridges.
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives destroyed over 24 tonnes of cannabis cultivated on nearly 10 hectares of farmland in Uromi and Ogu forests, arrested suspects, and intercepted a truck conveying 1,025kg of skunk concealed in charcoal bags.
The Chairman and Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for the successful operations, stating that the seizures demonstrate the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and national security.
