Concerned citizens urge Taraba commissioner to tackle deteriorating conditions of Jalingo main market
Concerned citizen have called on the Taraba State Commissioner for Environment, Aishat Barde, to urgently address what he describes as increasingly “inhospitable” conditions at the Jalingo main market.
One of such citizens who on Saturday, expressed sadness at the current situation of the market, is Yamujeh Usman Ba’aga,
In a message directed to the commissioner, Ba’aga expressed deep concern over the deteriorating environment within the market, urging the state government to take immediate action to restore cleanliness and order.
He emphasized that the poor conditions are affecting daily business activities and could pose health risks to traders and shoppers alike.
“As the honourable Commissioner of Environment, your prompt intervention is necessary to rectify this situation and create a suitable and conducive environment to facilitate daily activities in the market,” Ba’aga wrote.
He reminded the commissioner of her responsibilities, noting that the governor appointed commissioners to assist in fulfilling his mandate of effective governance across all sectors, including environmental management.
“The Governor cannot do it all alone. As an appointed commissioner, you have to play your part for the governor to achieve his goals and objectives for our dear state,” he added.
Residents and market users who spoke with DAILY POST, also voiced concerns over sanitation, waste disposal, and general maintenance of the market, making Ba’aga’s appeal part of a broader call for improved infrastructure and government responsiveness in the state.
The residents cited early morning rainfall that made the market inaccessible on Saturday, for both buyers and sellers,calling on the commissioner to urgently use her good office to address the current environment situation of the market.
