Kwara Govt impounds truck for damaging newly constructed road

Kwara State Government has impounded a heavy-duty truck for causing damage to a newly constructed road in the state.
The government also warned that offenders will henceforth face the full weight of the law.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, on Thursday, described the driver’s action as deliberate, stressing that “he continued despite being aware of the damage he was causing”.
Olododo said the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had invested enormous resources in road construction and rehabilitation across Kwara State to boost commerce, ease transportation, and drive economic prosperity.
The commissioner warned that the government will not tolerate recklessness, negligence, or disregard for public infrastructure.
“Any truck driver, vehicle owner, or transport company caught destroying or defacing public infrastructure will face the full consequences of their actions without compromise,” Olododo warned.
“The government will not hesitate to prosecute offenders and enforce every measure within the law to ensure accountability.”
He further noted that the era of impunity is over, urging truck operators to take full responsibility when using the state’s road network.
The commissioner appealed to citizens and stakeholders to work with government in protecting public infrastructure, describing it as a shared responsibility.
He assured that the administration remains committed to policies that will secure a greater and more prosperous Kwara State.
