Imo: ADC inaugurates LGA excos, reaffirms commitment to grassroots renewal

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, Imo State Chapter, has inaugurated its newly constituted Local Government Area executives across the 27 Local Government Areas.
The party said this aimed at deepening its presence and strengthening grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The epochal event, held at the party’s state headquarters in Owerri, was presided over by the State Chairman, Professor James Okoroma, and members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party.
Addressing the newly sworn-in executives, Professor Okoroma urged them to approach their assignments not merely as political appointments but as a solemn call to public service, a sacred mandate to fortify the grassroots foundations upon which the ADC’s enduring vision rests.
He reminded them that the ADC is more than a political platform; it is a people-centred movement founded on the timeless principles of discipline, transparency, inclusiveness, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of all.
“The future of our party rests squarely on the loyalty, resilience, and vision of leaders at the grassroots,” Okoroma declared. “You are not just executive members; you are the living faces and frontline ambassadors of the ADC in your various LGAs.
We expect from you dedication, synergy, and an unalloyed faith in the mission and ideals that define our movement.”
The day’s proceedings also featured the inauguration of the Okigwe Zonal Leadership, with Hon. Obinwanne Onwujuba sworn in as Zonal Chairman and Hon. (Sir) Chimax Onuoha as Zonal Secretary. Both leaders, in their acceptance remarks, pledged absolute loyalty to the party’s vision and assured stakeholders of their readiness to galvanise support, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and expand ADC’s influence across the zonal and ward structures.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Chief MacDonald Amadi, and made available to Aljazirah Nigeria.
The inauguration ceremony drew an impressive turnout of party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters from every corner of Imo State.
The statement noted that many described the exercise as a defining moment in the ADC’s ongoing evolution, a decisive step towards consolidating its institutional strength and positioning itself as a credible and people-oriented alternative in the state’s dynamic political arena.
The party reaffirmed the unflinching resolve of the ADC to provide responsible leadership and purposeful governance, underscoring that the party remains deeply committed to the values of unity, service, and sustainable progress in Imo State.
