BREAKING: Rashidi Ladoja crowned 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland

Former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The traditional crowning took place at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area after Ladoja earlier received the symbolic Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba.
Governor Seyi Makinde is scheduled to present him with the official staff and instruments of office at the iconic Mapo Hall in a separate ceremony.
Daily Post gathered that Makinde interrupted his annual vacation on Thursday to personally witness the historic event, which drew prominent figures including Gbenga Daniel and other dignitaries amid heavy security.
Ladoja’s elevation follows the death of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025. Further updates on the coronation are expected.
